Excerpt:

The fog wrapped around him like a blanket restricting his view. He turned to go back in but there was nothing but fog no matter which way he turned, until he no longer knew exactly which direction to take. Loud slashing of waves hitting the pier made him think he was still within range of his house only he wasn’t able to get to it. The only thing he could see through the thick moist haze was his small row boat tied to the post at the end of the walkway. He made his way to it, struggling to see where he was walking. He got in thinking he could row over to the side of the pier and get off there.

Once seated it began to move out to the sea as the thick fog began to diminish. The motor was not on, he had not used anything to make it move, but it moved on its own heading further away from the pier. It was too late to reach out for the platform to get out of the boat, so he sat back and waited for it to stop only it didn’t.

Scared beyond reason, he let his eyes search for something in sight to explain the sudden appearance of such that deep think fog that came out of nowhere, only to disappear suddenly. He sat shivering even though it was hot. He felt like he’d been imprisoned with it with no way to escape. The boat sat extremely still with little to no movement when it should have been rocking back and forth with the waves of the water. It was rather dark, gloomy with little distance in sight. “What on earth is this?” he spoke out-loud.

Suddenly a deep low pitched voice pierced the silence, “This is your hiding place, you wanted one so enjoy it.”
